Donnie Wilkerson

Donnie Wilkerson had Arrowl for the January/Feb slot and took Arrowl to a 3D shoot as well as trying for pigs and some fish. Here are some reports and pix he sent...

Jan. 15 - Went out this morning looking for hogs. Found lots of sign but no pigs, pretty sure they were bedded in an area of chest high grass and mud. I did get a 25 yard shot at another squirrel, just missed again! Guys, I really can shoot pretty good, just seem to be missing a lot this year. All inches away. Not the bows problem, I do think my arrows are alittle stiff 29" 50# spine 125 grain points 5/16" ramin.
I plan to take arrowl hog hunting agin next Friday then a traditional shoot Saturday and hog hunting agan Sunday.

Thanks,
Donnie

Arrowl and I attended the Traditional Bowhunters of Florida (TBOF) charity shoot this weekend. We shot pretty good but didn't place, 325 out of 400 points missed 2 targets. Not real long shots but very brushy. Several people were able to shoot arrowl before and after the tournament. Cooked up some gator meat Friday night and ate it all weekend long!!!!!

Also went pig hunting Sunday a.m., no fresh sign located and no animals seen. I should be able to try one more time before I send him on his way.

I tried to attach shoot pics but QUILTROPOLIS denied the photos, even after resizing. I guess I'll have to make a disk for Dick.

Thanks

Donnie

Jan. 25 - Me and my brother decided to go fishing this morning at a small canal north of town. I brought Arrowl along for the ride just in case gar were present. When we arrived no gar were seen but many large mudfish (bowfin) were cruising the bottom. Most were around 8 feet deep. I took many shots and hit several but the arrow had lost too much energy by the time it made contact to penetrate past the barbs. After several hours and 10 bass (all caught by my brother while I bowfished) two pretty large mudfish moved up to about the 4' depth. I draw held really low and to my surprise the arrow hit one in the back. He pulled line from the 888 reel but was finally brought to the bank. The fish weighed 15# and Arrowl did a great job.

Feb. 6 - My last hunt with Arrowl was uneventful but fun. I found lots of fresh hog rooting but no pigs. It rained most of the night, the rooting was since the rain. I was in the area at day light and must have missed them by a couple of hours. The mud hadn't even settled in the rooting and tracks. It was really windy, I'm sure they went to bed early. I did see 1 large deer and a black possum, I've seen a lot of possums but my first black one. Took several shots at pine cones and stumps on the way back to the truck. Arrowl is a pleasure to shoot and hunt with, I have total confidence with this bow. I'm sure someone will take bigger game with Arrowl, he likes to hunt.

Thanks again Dick for Arrowls visit. He has changed my whole shooting, for the better! I'm going lighter, shorter, I finally reached full draw consistantly, I hold longer at full draw and my accuracy and confidence has increased.
