Don Jochem's "Seal Plastic" Target

Don Jochem over in The Netherlands tried to describe to us what he called a "seal plastic" target. It took us awhile to be sure, but he was referring to large sheet wrapping plastic, similar to or the same as we use to stuff bags. However, Don did an exceptional job of packing into a neat long lasting tub. He used a basket pot from a nursery, used for potting young trees. I think a more common item here in the states would be the large blue or white plastic rain collection barrels. I know in my area you can usually find them for about $10 and one could be cut in half to make two of Don's targets. Anyway, here are Don's pictures...

The plastic has been put in a bicycle box...

and Don stomps it down to compress it

Don says this is a "basket" used for small trees. I'm not sure if this once had a bottom and has beeen cut or what, but you can see the idea here....

Filling the basket...

Don seems to twist it into a long form and then coil it into the basket.

A back has been cut out of what appears to be masonite and taped onto the basket.

A standard field target has been cut to the size of the basket and what appears to be duct tape has been run around the basket and sliced so it can be folded over neatly...

Here's the finished target, on a nice frame.

Target on Don's indoor range... 15 yards. What I wouldn't give to have a clear space this size indoors!

Closer view...

Success! All three arrows stopped nicely.

This is a very slick and effective target/stop system. I know I'm going to give it a try in my yard. Thank you very much, Don, for providing us with this record of what you did and how you did it.
