The mailman just made my day by delivering my new Howard Hill take-down bow. It's a Tembo, 60", 48# @ 25", bamboo lams, brown glass, Bacote riser and tips. Here are the photos (probably too many... what can I say, I'm excited!).
Bacote Riser with take-down sleeves.

closer view |
front view of riser/sleeve. Note that this riser, with the sleeve, is very thick compared to the usual Hill riser. It immediately felt like the most comfortable flatbow riser I have yet encountered. I love it, and if I have Craig make me another custom, I will see if he can do a regular wood riser to the same dimensions without the sleeve.

Rear view. I don't think you get any further center cut with this set up, but you do get a wider arrow ledge. |
Sleeve taken down. Works really, really slick!

Bacote tip |
So, OK... you gotta shoot it. Two arrows to warm up (both me and dthe bow... I hadn't shot yet today), then this was the next six...
|
and the six after that... These are Eason Legacy 1916's, cut to 26 1/2" with 145 gr. tips. They might be just a hair stiff yet. I have some 1816's coming and will try those. Could try 165 gr. tips on these, too. Needless to say, I'm delighted! |
Here's what a Hill take-down is all about... grab the quiver and go shooting!

This bow was ordered from Craig on March 14, and
delivered today, April 12. I can't speak highly enough of Craig's
craftsmanship and service. |
