I am aware of four Hill Limited Editions, i.e. special model bows of which only a specific number were built, usually 50. These are the Wild Boar, the King of the North, and Ol' Three Toes. The fourth Limited Edition I know of was the Centennial, a run of 100 special bows to commemorate Howard Hill's 100th birthday. I am fortunate in having a Wild Boar and a King of the North, and I have just obtained an Ol' Thee Toes.
If you have watched Howard Hill's early movies, you know that in one, he picked up a bear cub after its mother was killed by an old male bear that had only three toes. Over the winter, Howard tracked and tried to kill Ol' Three Toes, and finally, in the spring, he did. This bow was created by Craig Ekin to commemorate this incident and Howard's film.
The distinguising features of the bow are alternating lams of yew and bamboo, creating a striped effect on the side of the bow, wood tips, ebony grip with beautiful checkering, two silver inlays, and elk wrap.
Here are pictures of my Ol' Three Toes....
70" long, this one is not marked as to weight or draw (the Limiteds I have are not) but draws 45# @ 28". At my 25" draw it pulls 37 - 38#.

"Ol' Three Toes" and "#18 of 50 by Craig T. Ekin" |
The off side has this inlay of a bear paw, with, of course, only three toes. Note the gorgeous skip checkering in the ebony riser.

Here's a closeup of the last view. You can see the workmanship on the checkering and on leaving the inlay in it. Also note the stacking of the lams. Black glass, yew, bamboo, 2 yews, bamboo and yew under clear glass on the belly.

Here's the shelf side. Same treatment but with a full bear rather than just the paw.

And a closeup of that...

I hope you enjoyed the chance to see this beautiful bow. There is a page in the Showcase on the King of the North and on the Wild Boar as well.
