It appears that my desire for a "Classic" or "Vintage" grip Hill is not unique. (See Project X) Jay Massey posted this to the Stickbow list and gave me permission to re-post it here. My own "Project X2" should be getting really close about now... maybe next week. Meantime, here is Jay's version, and a mighty fine one it is!

I prefer hunting with wood bows, but where I live, extreme humidity,
consistent hard rain, hot conditions (often all at once )
force me at times to use glass bows,
so I got Craig at HILL archery to make me one, It's a Cheetah, with Zebrawood
handle, 64" ntn, 75# @ 28",but I draw 27 or just a bit less, of
course I got craig to make it without an arrow pass, this way it shoots like
my selfbows, as a matter of fact the bow didn't need any tuning, I knew exactly
how and what was going to shoot.
I was going to put some skins on it, but I opted for a more old way of camoing
the limbs, (hemp wrappings ) the grip wrap is natural Jute.
It's being pouring for weeks here, this bow might see some action soon
