Reverse Handle Howard Hill Bow

Horace Worcester has been keeping me updated on his order for a reverse handle Howard Hill bow. He now has it and has sent some pictures and comments.

It is 68" long and 50 lbs. at Horace's draw

Note: This is the bow strung...

Here are Horace's comments, sent over a few days after he received it:

I received the reverse handle on thursday but needed to pick up some arrows from my hunting partner.
It is awsome and all I thought it would be.
It points like a bird dog. If I do not grip it firmly it does have some minor handshock but that can be delt with since it has not even been tuned yet.
I am sorry I did not do this years ago. It is that awsome. In less than 90 days we will be hunting moose or bear depending what the lottery says.
The next step is to purchase a HH backquiver and a dozen 160grain HH broadheads.
I will get you some pictures this week.

Here is a picture of "Wrong Way"  my reverse Handle Howard Hill Wesley Special.
It has a cocobolo handle, wine colored grip and rest.  5 laminations of Bamboo and a back of Mountain Juniper to provide natural camo when pointing at an animal.
It is 68" long and 50 lbs. at my draw.

Overall I couldn't be more happy with the bow. The Handle was sized for me and it came out perfect. The handle is very important to me. This reverse handle shows little handshock, is as smooth as can be.
I let my hunting partner work it out while I stood back and watched. It is quick!!
All in all it could not be better.
I did some close fast shooting and it points like a bird dog. Wow Thanks Graig!
The only thing I am going to do different is have some new strings made up.
The string grooves are a little bit shallower than what I am use to which I do not mind.
The string is thinner making the serving thinner and it seems to bother me. Might just take some getting use to.
Anyway I am going to have a 450 string made (Craig says it is OK) with a thicker serving, more strands, whatever and a HALO serving (Very slippery). The string maker says he will not pad the loops as much.
At present the brace height is about 7" from the 6 5/8 he recommended. According to him I can go 7 1/2 since it is a reverse handle.
I would recommend the reverse handle to anyone. Looks funny strung. But if you forget everything and just shoot, it will be alright.
As for arrows I haven't started to work with them yet. It seems to shoot some junker 250 and 350 graflex both very well.
If we get a moose permit tonight I will shoot 175 grain ace vented heads with a four fletch laminated birch shafts so I can strighten it out quick. Sometimes you can get to close to moose.

Horace is right about the look. I have two reverse handle longbows, not Hills, and they do lndeed look odd. When you hang them up, there is a tendency to try to hang them backwards. When stringing, you are really faced with a psychological challenge. You have to mentally force yourself to grip and flex them the "wrong" way to push the string home. It really feels unnatural. However, Horace is also right about the fact that they are sweet shootes. I like mine very much and may well order my next bow from Craig this way.
