I was asked by someone considering buying a Hill if I could tell him what they weighed. So, here is a list of my Hills with their weights and the characteristics that would contribute to same:
60# Big Five, cocobolo riser, 66”….. 1 lb. 4 1/2 oz.
55# Black Bear Carbon, ebony riser, 64”….. 1 lb. 2 oz.
65# Tembo II, lemonwood foreward riser, 70”….. 1 lb. 6 1/2 oz
48# Black Wolf Carbon, cocobolo riser, 62”….. 1 lb. 1 oz.
54# Cheetah, walnut riser, 60”….. 1 lb. 1 3/4 oz.
48# Tembo, small sleeve take down, bubinga riser 60”….. 1 lb.
6 oz.
60# Cheetah, ebony riser, 72”….. 1 lb. 7 oz.
54# Cheetah, large sleeve take down, shedua riser, 66”….. 1 lb.
11 oz.
52# Wesley Special, shedual riser, 70”….. 1 lb. 5 oz.
60# Hlafbreed, shedua riser, 66”….. 1 lb. 3 oz.
45# Wesely Special, ebony riser, 64”….. 1 lb. 3 oz.
50# Falcon, shedua riser, 70”…. 1 lb. 3 oz.
65# Redman, walnut riser, 70”….. 1 lb. 6 oz.
45# Bear Cub, walnut riser, 56”….. 12 oz
27# Bear Cub, walnut riser, 56”….. 11 oz.
Some of these bows I bought used and I'm making my best guess as to the riser wood, but you can see that it doesn't make a lot of difference. I thought that the ebony riser bows would come out around 2 1/2 lbs, but yo can see they didn't. The biggest factor is draw weight... a heavy draw bow is going to have thicker limbs, and there is a lot more limb than riser. However, if weight is a factor with you, you can see that your Hill bow is going to weigh a pound and a half, plus or minus...
Hope that helps someone.
